Baldur's Gate 3 Is Far Bigger And Stranger Than We Thought – Larian's Swen Vincke Interview

After a short Baldur’s Gate 3 demo we sat down with Larian’s founder Swen Vincke to talk about the early access plans as well as the huge scope of the game.

Currently the first act of the game that is realising with the early access version is bigger than the entirety of Divinity: Original Sin…

  1. There's still so much more to talk about in Baldur's Gate 3, if you have any questions that I wasn't able to cover in this interview, hit me up with them right here or on Twitter (@irregulardave) and I'll do my best to answer them….or find out the answer!

  2. I have no doubt that this will be a great RPG. Iโ€™ve been playing Baldurโ€™s gate 1 and 2 a lot recently and this just doesnโ€™t look like it will fit the Baldurโ€™s gate name at all.

Would choose BG2.5 over this. Will follow updates since this is pre-alpha but I am not holding my breath.

  3. If it has local co-op like the old Baldur's Gate games, I'm pretty much sold with these graphics & open world… But I HATE that you made it turn based. The Action RPG element of Baldur's Gate was part of it's greatness, turnbased is an immersion killer.

  4. Can anyone tell me if early access is free or paid been on website and had it on my wishlist for a while now and still no price so is it free early access or paid

  5. Swen is a genius. There's no room for doubt about his creativity. But by the current looks, I really would love for the game to be titled 'Baldur's Divine Sin'. xD

Seriously, hopefully the art direction will shift to a heavier tone. It doesn't necessarily need to look dark or forboding, but you get the idea. And I don't mind it being turn-based, which is a superior combat system to rtwp imo.

  6. So far the biggest disappointment I have spent money on. Not because of the bugs, but because it does not deliver on its promise of a DnD experiance at all. It is barely based on the 5th ed rules, by barely I mean most of the core stuff is basically thrown out the window in order to make yet another Divinity game instead. They claim to be basing this in the world of the Forgotten Realms yet use their own lore and rules for the world instead of stuff that has been established. So far even it it was a finished product with no bugs, in this form it's a 2/10 star game unless they massively change things and actually listen to the community on their EA forums about how to make the game feel less like Divinity 3 and more like a BG game. Unfortunately they didn't listen to any feedback from any of their other EA games so why would they start now.

  7. Damn, that gnome went flying in my current playthrough of the game and We found him dead near the well. It was funny watching him fly through the air though. If I knew there was more to him I'd have re-loaded the game
